That was how the Department of Conservation were able to identify the 50-year-old whale botherer and point out that both he and the whale were lucky to escape his stupidity without injury. A Republican congressman has blasted his fellow politicians for not having enough war. Specifically, he wants to attack Russia, and he brought a novelty, oversized map with him to show exactly whereabouts he wants Ukraine to attack Russia. Michael McCaul (R-TX 10th District), Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, called on the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to allow Ukraine to use long-range ATACMS missiles to attack targets deep into Russia territory. He had, rather conveniently, pre-selected these targets on behalf of Ukraine, as evidenced by the map with large swathes of Russian territory painted liberally with targets. ‘This is a sanctuary zone that the Russians have created,’ he said, pointing at Russia. Outraged that Russians might feel safe in Russia, and even more outraged that Russians were provocatively housing Russian weapons in there, mere thousands of miles from the US, he urged Blinken to allow Ukraine to ‘defend itself’ by firing long-range missiles directly at Russia. Bodycam footage of the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7 from inside a military base has been released by relatives of the victims. The footage shows several female ‘observers’ in the army being taken hostage, some after being brutally beaten. Outside, the battle for the base can be heard raging on, but inside, communication is just as difficult, with some of the hostages unable to make themselves understood. One woman, Agam Berger, was particularly badly beaten, her mouth swollen and covered in blood. According to her cousin, she is alive, although still held captive. Some of the hostages were released during the ceasefire in November, and they brought news that she was alive and well; however, nothing has been heard since. The fate of the other hostages in the video is not known. A political rally in northern Mexico ended in devastation due to a freak accident in which the stage collapsed due to high winds. A huge gust of wind brought the enormous stage, lights, rigging and all, crashing to the ground, sending people flying as others scrambled to safety. In attendance at Wednesday night's rally was presidential candidate Jorge Álvarez Máynez, who later posted that he had been taken to a nearby hospital, and confirmed that there had been several fatalities. At least nine people are known to have been killed, and at least 50 injured. A daring highway robbery ended in the world’s shortest car chase and the world’s most unlikely car accident. A would-be thief pulled alongside a rather expensive Lamborghini sports car in Sao Paulo, brandished a gun and demanded the driver hand over his also expensive Rolex watch. The driver obliged, and it seemed as if this literal highwayman was about to get away with it. The hapless thief forgot one important thing, however: this is Brazil. The Lamborghini driver decided that vengeance trumped insurance deductibles, traffic laws and the human desire for safety, and as the thief attempted a somewhat illegal left turn, he drove his car right into the thief with as much force as 700 horsepower can deliver. The resulting crash ejected the thief from his bike, the Rolex from the thief’s one hand and the gun from his other. The gun and the Rolex were quickly recovered, but the thief made a slow, limping getaway.
